In addition,
Gunpo City exercised its jurisdiction over five dongs, including
Dang-dong, Dangjeong-dong, Bugok-dong, Sanbon-dong and Geumjeong-dong,
in accordance with the Municipal Ordinance No. 22 on Designations
of Dongs
in Gunpo City and Its Jurisdiction (promulgated on January 1, 1989
).
Furthermore, as for subordinate offices, the city established 6
administrative dongs by designating Dang-dong 1-bu to Gunpo 1-dong,
the combination of Dang-dong 1-bu and Bugok-dong to Gunpo 2-dong,
Dangjong-dong to Dangjeong-dong, Sanbon-dong to Sanbon 1-dong and
Sanbon 2-dong by dividing the dong an Geumjeong-dong to Geumjeong-dong
according to the Municipal Ordinance No. 23

dong of Jaegung-dong by dividing Geumjeong-dong on May 1, 1992 in
accordance with the Municipal Ordinance No. 281 (promulgated on
April 28, 1992 ).
This was done in order to efficiently deal with the increase in
residents and administrative demand with the designation of parts
of Sanbon-dong and Geumjeong-dong as the residential land development
district and construction of houses in the said district due to
construction of the new city .
As the result, the administrative dongs amounted to a total of 7
dongs. Moreover, Gunpo City arrived at the present time as it moved
the city hall building from Dang-dong to the present site at 844
Geumjeong-dong on December 2, 1992 in accordance with the Municipal
Ordinance No. 295 (promulgated on January 6, 1993 ).

No. 298 (promulgated on January 14, 1993), increasing the number
of administrative dongs to 8.
Suri-dong was newly established on June 8, 1993 by
dividing Sanbon 2-dong according to the Municipal Ordinance No.
308 (promulgated on June 8, 1993 ), making the number of administrative
dongs to 9.
Consequently, the number of administrative dongs
became 10 as Gungnae-dong was newly established one year later on
July 19, 1994 by dividing Suri-dong based on the Municipal Ordinance
No. 347 (promulgated on July 19, 1994 ).
There had not been any changes to the legal dongs
in Gunpo City since Gunpo was promoted to the city, but the number
of legal dongs was increased by 4 dongs in Gunpo City, including
Dundae-dong, Sokdal-dong, Daeyami-dong and Domagyo-dong, based on
the Municipal Ordinance No. 363 (promulgated on December 29, 1994),
making the total number of dongs to 9 as 4 ris in Banwol-myeon,
Hwaseong-gun, including Dundae-ri, Sokdal-ri, Daeyami-ri and Domagyo-ri,
were incorporated into Gunpo City due to partial adjustment of administrative
districts in accordance with the Presidential Decree No. 14,434
(promulgated on December 26, 1994).
Furthermore, Daeyami-dong was established as the administrative
dong to implement administration of 4 dongs based on the Municipal
Ordinance No. 364 (promulgated on December 29, 1994), and the administrative
dongs were increased to 11 as the result.
Subsequently, Gwangjeong-dong was newly established
by dividing Sanbon 2-dong, which had difficulties in performing
dong administration due to the increase in residents, on February
28, 1995 in accordance with the Municipal Ordinance 381 (promulgated
on February 28, 1995 ).
Moreover, Gunpo City has reached the present time with 11 administrative
dongs now as Dangjeong-dong was integrated into Gunpo 1-dong in
1999. |
